Founded in 1673 in Arita’s Ōbo district, Kichiemon Porcelain is a historic kiln with more than 350 years of porcelain-making tradition. For generations, the kiln has specialised in tableware for restaurants, ryotei and traditional Japanese inns, developing an exceptional understanding of form, decoration and the presentation of food.

Rather than simply reproducing traditional Arita ware, Kichiemon continues to explore its possibilities through experimentation with form, texture, glaze and porcelain techniques. Its philosophy centres on deconstructing and reconstructing familiar ideas, combining centuries of accumulated craftsmanship with a distinctly contemporary sensibility.

The result is tableware that feels unmistakably Japanese yet modern—pieces designed not only to be admired, but to provide a considered stage for food.
