As one of the leading figures of postwar Japanese graphic design, Awazu expanded the boundaries of visual expression by embracing image reproduction and mass production through design and printing technologies.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn 1960, he joined the \u003cstrong\u003eMetabolism\u003c\/strong\u003e movement, a collaborative group of architects and designers that sought to rethink the future of cities and society. In 1977, he exhibited his \u003cem\u003eGraphism Trilogy\u003c\/em\u003e at the São Paulo Biennial.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFrom the 1980s onward, Awazu conducted research into pictographic writing systems and Native American rock art.
